John Deere 455D crawler loader bucket hydraulic pump!

Post by Mostly Ghostly » Wed Jun 25, 2014 4:33 pm

My nephew recently bought this machine, its an 80's model, and he has been using it fine for a couple of months.
Then the other day he was using it and the bucket controls stopped working, we checked to see if the front shaft was spinning and it is and the pump is making a weird noise!
So here is my first question, how to tell if the pump is bad and if it can be rebuilt?
Thanks for your help!!

When you say it was making a sound. It sounds like the pump was running dry. Check the hydralic oil level you mabey havenet destroyed the pump but you could have. Also check for leaks. So you know where the oil went. Good luck

Turns out after the pump was off the piece that covers spines was bad.
He turned it around and got it to work for now!
So now does anyone know the name of that piece and where he can buy one besides the dealer?

You can use the free Deere online parts catalog to find out the name of that part and how much it would cost for Deere before you do your aftermarket search:

http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com. ... ervlet_Alt
(1) JD Straight 450 crawler dozer with manual outside blade; (2) JD 2010 diesel crawler loaders; (1) JD 2010 diesel dozer with hydraulic 6-way blade; (2) Model 50 backhoe attachments, misc. other construction equipment
