450C Loader Boom cylinder pin

Post by DrLoch » Mon Jul 28, 2014 2:33 pm

Looking for a 450C loader boom cylinder pin. JD P/N AT31949.
Diameter 1-3/4"
Length 6-5/8 to 6-3/4

If I have to get one made, what would be the correct material to use?

I've tried a number of searches with no results.

Is the pin missing or damaged? If it is scarred is it possible to build it up with weld and turn down?
Running that pn came up with a salvage yard in Baton Rouge that lists it at $84.

Ouch! Missed that. I think the previous owner of my machine thought zinc-plated grade is good for most applications...
Could a hydraulic shop recommend the grade or fab one?
Here's the one I saw on-line: http://gulfsouthequip.com/at31949-john- ... 9-2657.asp

I tried most of the salvage yards including Gulf South with no success thus far. Yea jtrichard it is indeed broken in half right at the cross drill of the grease passage. Don't even think JB weld would help this one. When you look at the cross section at the break it almost looks to be case hardened about .180 deep.

We have a machine shop in our building of which I help keep there Haas machining center running as well write the G-Code for some of the special parts and assemblies we have them make for some of our customers. I'm confident they could make one. That being said, they may be able to make other parts for these machines if I can get a basic drawing of the part. I have done a CAD drawing of the pin and will take it out to them. In the mean time if I can find a usable used one I can get it back together and burn some of the large stumps I have in the pile.

Maybe Lavoy does have a source for pins like this. Hopefully he sees this, I will also PM as well.
