450B STEERING CLUTCH / METALLIC VS FIBER PLATES
JUST TORE DOWN MY 450B FOR STEERING CLUTCH REPLACEMENT LOOK FOR PRO AND CON ON METALLIC PLATES VS FIBER PLATES HAVE LOT OF PHOTOS THAT I WILL UP LOAD TO SHOW RIPPING IT DOWN AFTER I FOUND THE MASTER PIN AND REMOVED IT NO BIG ISSUES TEAR IT FOUND THAT 4 OF THE RETURN SPRINGS WERE GONE CLEANING AND PREP TO PUT BACK TOGETHER NEED SOME FEED BACK ON PLATES THANKS
I am getting to not be a fan of the metallic plates, they are much more aggressive, harder on drivetrain, and harder on brake bands if adjusted to factory spec. If I do them myself, I adjust out of spec and run much less brake to get as little face pressure as I can on the discs. The pros are they won't swell, and should be somewhat less affected by oil, but there shouldn't be oil in there anyway.

Not from Deere, but aftermarket.
