A month or so ago I found out my 350 muffler had rusted out which allowed water to get in the cylinders. I pulled the engine and when I pulled it apart found it had ruined all the cylinders. I took the engine to a friend of mine who owns a machine shop and had them clean the block and redo the head. They installed new valves and seats and got me a cylinder kit. They did not need to grind the crank but they did polish it but everything is standard. They got me a cylinder kit but it came with two cylinder O rings(one orange and one black) and a square which is a smaller diameter. Can anyone tell me which one or ones I need to use? I also forgot to peen or scribe the main caps so I do not know which one goes where other that the thick one is the rear. Two are marker B and on C I believe. Also when installing the main bearings do the locating tabs for the bearings go on the same side or do they go across from each other? I should have not been in such a hurry to get it in and paid a little closer attention.
Thanks for any help.
350 diesel engine rebuild
tabs should be on the same side....... the caps on most engines are marked.. you should be able to bolt the caps on and feel the bores for any offsets and move them around till there no offsets and the bores mic the same all around
