Need help with steering clutch on JD 450B

Post by johndeere630 » Wed Jul 26, 2006 10:28 am

I have a JD 450 B that sat for about 5 months and now the left steering clutch doesn't want to operate. When I pull back on the left lever, the engine labors, but the machine will not move to the left. I think the left clutch is stuck. Any suggestions as how to free that up without ripping the machine apart?
If I have to take the machine apart, what is invloved. Thanks, Perry

I have been able to break some loose by doing the following, but not if they are fused solid.
You can pull the steering lever back to just before the brake kicks in, and push against a solid mass. go forward and reverse against the mass and the clutch will brake loose.
Hope it helps, Brian
