450 blade question

Post by JD430C » Tue Aug 01, 2006 1:16 pm

hi all, i bought a 350 for work, but turns out its too small. a guy just down the road from me has a 450D with a outside blade. a friend has a 450 with 6way that hes parting out. will the 6way off the early 450 fit the 450D? i really like the 450D, but dont want the outside blade. thanks

There is just too mutch work to change them for my likeing But the blade was the same on theCs as the Ds the frame was the big change and the rad is 25% larger as well on the 450D They are on the same frame as the550 crawlers of that day just two inches narrower And a lot better frame than the 450C had .The 6405 blade or six way is worth a lot more money than the 6410 inside mount manual angle and tilt or 6415 outside mount manual angle hydraulic tilt blades Just remember that you should change the hydraulic pump from the 15gpm [AT41449]to the 23gpm [AT41450]That came standard on the six way blades and are a lot quicker in operation You will also need to do some torching and welding for blade mounts The hydraulics should mount right on but it wont be easy. Do not forget the you you will have to change out the hydraulic controls as well; along with several support brackets for them.....

thanks guys for the info. i just wanted to know if it was possible to make it fit. the 450D has a winch, rops with limb risers, and just had the undercarriage done. i think hes asking around 9,000.

What?

Why is he parting out the 450D. Looks like it would be cheaper and easier to put the D back than to change out blades on the two machines......

JAG, the 450D is owned by a neighbor just down the road and is a working machine with a outside blade. i have a friend in southern NH with a early 450 with 6way. its got a bad motor, and he doesnt know if he wants to part it or fix it. thats why i was asking if it was possible to put a early 6way on the 450D.

Andrew, Sorry I had the dozers mixed up. I had my motor rebuilt in frame for under $1800. You should get a complete bench rebuild for about $2500, depending on needed parts. With the 450D having a new undercarriage you should have a great working under $12k. That is cheap if you can get it. The winch and limb risers add 3K+. Any type of working C model around here is $15 to 20K depending on the undercarriage.

jag, i have a friend that has the complete rebuild kit for the 450 that i can get cheap, but i dont know if i want another project. it took 2 months to go through my 350. 450s, 450b's, and 450c's around here are 10 to 15k. i seached the net a little, and 450d's in good shape with 6ways are over 20k.
