Checking compression and adjusting valves

Post by lawsonj5 » Sat Dec 06, 2014 3:10 pm

After pulling the head off my 68 350 diesel to clean a rats nest out of the intake, I have finally got everything back together but still cant get the machine to fire off. Cleaned everything in the head, did a home grind job on the valves, all new gaskets, and new injectors. With the injector lines cracked i can see the injectors are getting fuel to them. I was going to try adjusting the valves like it says in the manual but I am wondering if there is a way to turn the flywheel manually so that I can line the pin up. Tried just bumping the starter but its too touchy. Also, is there some way to test compression on these engines? Thanks.
