What is a jd 350b engine worth

Post by Jrjenner » Sat Jan 17, 2015 8:11 pm

just trying to get a value of a running 350b engine. I currently don't need but would not mind having a backup. The owner states that the engine runs but burns a little oil. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Forgive my ignorance with regards to the 350 series, is this is his gas or diesel? or does the 350B series only use one type of motor?

Hi,

The straight 350 came in both gas and diesel. About the time of the B series, gas had gone away. So, I don't think any B series were made gas.

Not that this helps the OP, as I don't know what either one might be worth these days....

a bit of a tangent... but any thoughts to gas vs diesel as far as power? I know the diesel is harder starting and usually longer lasting. I have a 350 straight and food for thought.... if I find a decent diesel engine for a good price, how hard would the conversion be? (assuming lift pump and secondary were included of course)

I don't know about the conversion, but my hunch would be that it is harder to swap the engine than it would be to clean, detail, and sell your dozer and purchase a comparable diesel model. Probably be a bit cheaper too. :)
