350b top rollers

Post by cjman1977 » Wed Apr 01, 2015 9:21 am

Just bought new top rollers for the 350b. Old ones were lubricated with grease. Should I do the same for the new ones? It has the same leather seal with the springs behind it. This looks like a grease seal rather than an oil seal.

On another note, This thing is going to nickle and dime me to death. It seems that I take 2 steps forward and 2.5 back. Just enough to say lets keep going but not enough back to warrant giving up. Just a rant.

Bennett.

Use gear lube or corn head grease, not regular gun grease.

Thanks Lavoy.

Well what about the new front idlers. Should I use grease since it has a grease week?

Hi,

Corn head grease there as well. And, the bottom rollers too if they have fittings (meaning the newer sealed rollers).

The corn head grease is as close as one can get to the crawler roller lube these days.

Yes, they nickle and dime you unless you really bite the bullet and tear it into little bits and put it back together fixing everything at one time. Also, see my bottom line there. :P

You are exactly right. I have been working on this thing for three months. Only supposed to replace the steering clutches. Turned into a complete undercarriage rebuild.
