This thread is specific to swapping for the larger 2010 engine, but may give you some ideas for the 1010:

1010 crawler, wheel tractor, some power units maybe, one of the smaller combines maybe as well, and I believe one of the swathers. Either way, the parts will all be the same, and the price will be the same.

I don't know if it will be any easier to find good 2010 engines (145 cid gas), nor if it would fit easily in the 1010 frame or bolt to the transmission bellhousing. I assume you have the gas engine since you mentioned you had the 115 cid block.

I found a catalog that cross-references most of JD's engines for all of their equipment (ag and industrial). This is a handy link for engine specs regardless of model.

If you scroll towards the bottom of the discussion link I previously posted, JdeMaris mentioned a block that could fit both 1010s and 2010s (155 cid) that was sleeveless. You may want to look into that one.

With a 2010 engine in a 1010, there might be an increased chacne of drivetrain failure with the extra power. Other than that, it is pretty much a direct bolt in as far as I know.
I might have some oversized pistons for a 1010 gas, is your liner good enough to bore?

Keep an eye on EPay- I see new deck sleeves on there from time to time.

If you can buy a new one for $750, I would go that way. Finding a good used one will likely be a problem, and it will still be worn. Put a new one in, and you know what you have, and you should be good for as long as you own the crawler.
