Mick I would say that there is a big difference between a C and a D then the E was refining the D dozers. The Cs and Ds have some drive train and trainy components in common along with hydraulic components and the blade is the same also. But the operators platform was set higher and more blade visibility was the reason the big improvement was the 450Cs 4219 engine of 65 HP was replaced with the 450Ds 4276 engine of 70 HP .Now when the 450Es came along this was the final up grade before the G series or the componentized main framed dozers .The 450 E series dozers even had small hydraulic, transmission and power shift up grades as well as the blade configuration was changed and that is the big difference to the untrained eye between a 450D and a 450E series dozer .As far as I am concerned they are all good dozers but the 450G series blew them away long gone are the days when the trany was beaten and twisted with the terrain and yes the motor can flex under load with no damage to other components .All for darn near the same bucks as the previous machines Just my two cents worth !.Digitup.
