New JD 350 loader questions

Got a JD 350 diesel track loader with a 4 way bucket at auction last year. Inspection was visual and they did start it. It starts and runs well. It was advertised as a 350B, but the serial number says it’s a 350 (SNE7350000467U). I am currently replacing all filters and fluids and have a couple of problems and questions.

1. What does the E7 and U in the serial number signify?
2. The hydraulic fluid has water in it but I can’t get the plug out, I used a ½”bar to try and turn the plug. Any hints? I have since pumped out the fluid and replaced about ¾ of the original fluid.
3. The operator’s manual indicates that I should have two fuel filter, I have a black box after the fuel pump that feeds the diesel pump. It has a slight leak. What is it?’ PN?

Would have included pictures, if I could figure out how to do it.

To answer your #1 question, that "E7U" number is not your crawler's serial number- it is the loader attachment's serial number. The crawler's serial number plate should be near the seat base.

Hi,

The early fuel filter were twin screw on cans. The later was a rectangular cart. Usually black. I don't have a p/n handy, but for about a decade there it was used on lots of things.

After you get your crawler serial number, you can use the online JD parts catalog to get the part number for your filter- you will have to search for your model (350, 350B, etc.) using the "model search" function at the top left corner and go from there:

I say that because as Stan said it sounds like there is either a model or serial number break where they switched from the dual filter system to the single filter system.

Hi,

IIRC, on the Ag models this change came on the 30 series (ie 1520 to 1530) which was somewhere about 1970. So, that probably means when the JD350 became the JD350B.

Looking at the eBay link: that filter looks just like the primary filter on my CAT diesel...the folks at carquest auto parts were able to match it (I love the older counter help: he knew just what it was. The younger crowd needs the year, make and whether the fuel cap is on the left or right and if power or hand crank windows!). I don't recall what I paid.

Stan the "B"s show they used the 2 round filters then somewhere mid stream (after #191714) they changed to the glass box type ...looking at the ser.# list the change was mid 74 close to the end of the "B"s run

Found the filter in the 350B parts list, ordered on Ebay.
I'm still confused about the SN. Mine is on the dash where it should be for a 350, at least that's where the operators manual has it.[i

It's been painted several times and has a 350B decal on the side. I don't think its a "B"

The 4 in one bucket has seen too many rocks, any chance of getting a better on at a reasonable price?

that ser.# is for the loader the tractor# should be on the seat frame behind your left foot I believe

Hi,

The dash you see isn't the 350, it is the loader cross frame. So, that tag is the serial number of the loader.

My mystery continues. There is no serial number on the seat panel.
I have two rivets on the brake side that probably held the SN.
The fuel filter indicated it’s a late model B.
Is there any other way to determine its age?
