450c water pump help

Post by Craig Peacock » Thu Oct 01, 2009 8:28 am

I’m looking for a water pump for a John Deere 450C Diesel motor. It’s a 1974 4 cylinders, 202 cu in. (3.3 L).

Here's what I was able to get last night. R54806 There are two numbers on the casting. I was only able to get one. The other was under the pulley that I can't figure to get apart. ( HELP ) I feel like a real jery that I can't figure out how to remove the fan from the water pump, but I can't unless it's press fit. Any advice you can provide would be appreciated. I can send pictures if it helps.

I have 450B. Pump Part numbers show to use same pump. Go online to jdparts, register then go to parts lookup. Will come up with sectional diagrams of parts. Can see where parts are, get part numbers and price. Pretty nice diagrams for reference. Hope it helps.

like other post said. didn't think before but had mine rebuilt at deere for 265. parts run about 60. mine took 2 hrs. some are harder than others but any machine shop with press can do the work. i opted for deere because of chance that housing getting broke in process, figured they would be better choice to make good. new is outrageous!!!!!

Think rebuild as most often the housing is good .Check your impeller for wear but other than that just rebuild a John Deere water pump.Yes get Deere to do it the ag dealers can also do this job they do it more often than the construction guys and have all the tools and parts to get her done !!.Digitup.

Parts from Deere were less than $50.
Rebuilt mine in the shop here.
Took a puller, press and about 30 minutes.
Posted pictures in the show and tell of what pump looks like taken apart.
