420C with #90 loader
420C with #90 loader
Here is what has occupied pretty much every waking hour for the last 7 weeks or more. It is a customers 1957 420 crawler with a #90 loader.
The crawler was completely disassembled, and built back up starting from an empty transmission case. I rebuilt every mechanical component on the crawler with the exception of the bottom rollers and front idlers which were already done.

For any of you thinking that I got the whole crawler done that fast, I did not. 7 weeks was starting with a totally disassembled and cleaned crawler. What I forgot to mention was the month prior to this that I spent tearing down, washing, fixing, etc, etc. Those 7 weeks was 12 hours a day, 7 days a week in the shop. and a couple more hours a day on the computer and phone arranging parts and such.
As an aside, I delivered this crawler to the owner a week ago one evening. First thing he was going to do with it the next morning was take it out and get it dirty playing with it. To me, that is the reason I own them, is to play with them, so I was kind of glad to see that it did not become a "trailer queen", never to see dirt again.
