Whats required for a JD440ICD to wear JD350 Tracks

Post by thomastractorsvc » Wed Mar 05, 2008 9:56 pm

I am in the market for some new track and came across some for a JD 350 that are in excellent shape. Obviously I know about the Sprocket anything thing elese I need to swap out?

Lavoy, still waiting to send you a couple of pics, you had some redone track at one time do you still got it? How much. I need to figure what will be cheaper 1000 for track and 600 for sprockets plus welding and cutting??? Might be cheaper to find some 440 track.

Sprocket is only thing you need to change, rims are a little hard to come by right now, but there are some around yet. If the rails you are looking at do not have pads, you will need 4 bolt pads to go with them. If the rails you are looking at are used, be careful, there is a reason they were taken off. If they have much wear, then you are back to rebushing again, and 350 is higher again than 440. If they have much wear, and you going to need to rebush them in the near future, then I would look at new rails. If your pads are bad, then 350 is also the way to go. If your pads are good, then you may want to go back with what you have. I can build one more set of rails if you decide to go that way.

My rails and pins/bushings are worn. The pins have been turned and the middle is almost half what ends are. The Rails are worn and thin and where you can see the end of the pin is worn about half way up.

That sounds like you are about at the end, probably not worth trying to rebush yours.
