450B Transmission oil type
450B Transmission oil type
Does anyone know if I can use general purpose hydrulic oil in the transmission or do I have to use the JD type 303 special purpose oil? thanks for any help.
We use Shell Donax TD or Deere's Hy Tran oil both are made in the same refinery and from the same process .Use a good power shift oil but dont bother with synthetics as that trany will argue with most synthetic oils for some reason I put synthetic in a 450E and removed it quickly .Works great in my newer H and J series but if unshure of putting the wrong thing in you can't go wrong with Shell Donax HD or Deere Hy Tran in Deere power shift tranys at any time .Digitup.
Re: 450B Transmission oil type
Any good combination trans/hydraulic oil works fine. Just read the label and make sure it's rated as a Deere HyGuard/303 equivalent. Any name brand will be. We had many customers that bought Hyguard equivlalent oils at the IH store, NAPA, Central Tractor, Agway, etc. and they did fine. No worse and no better than those using only HyGuard.Digger wrote:Does anyone know if I can use general purpose hydrulic oil in the transmission or do I have to use the JD type 303 special purpose oil? thanks for any help.
Thanks guys for the feed back. Snow banks are finally going down and its time to start working on my "in good condition johnny, according to the dealer " before I can use it. Going to start removing sheet metal, rad., engine, and clutch housing so I can fix the broken side frame bolts. Hope there's no other problems. There's only so much of this "good deal" I can afford. I'll start posting some pictures after I start, maybe like a step by step if anyones interested. Digger
