I tried to buy tracks from them 2x over the past several months and never got any kind of response to e-mails. He is only about 3 hours from me. I ended up using S&S tractor in Marcellus, NY. Great people to deal with and good service. New tracks should be on the tractor this week.

There's a guy named Eric Norris in Norwood, NY that I've gotten some very good deals from. He and his father buy crawlers, strip them out, and sell parts on a small scale. He's more north than Crawler Heaven. Norris is 210 miles from me (I'm near Cooperstown) and Crawler Heaven is 190 miles. But - Norris's father lives closer to me in the Adirondack Park - and drops parts off for me at his father's place.

Nice thing about Norris is - he returns phone calls and -so far - when he promises to do something - he follows through.

I was working on my crawler last night, putting on the new chains that I got from S&S, and discovered that the last owner had removed one link from each chain in order to get some more run time out of them. Unfortunately, now I am 2 pads short with the new 36 link chains. I guess another trip to S&S is in order. It is about a 2 hr drive, but I like wandering through their yard to see what goodies they have on hand anyways.

I've run into that problem many times. Removing a link from the chain is a popular remedy. Gives you the problem of finding a link to match. Many aftermarket links like Berco won't fit into an OEM chain. And, a new link of any sort needs to be ground to match against older worn links. To compound the issue, most salvage yards aren't going to sell one link out of an otherwise good chain.

I just went though this with an Allis Chalmers HD3. Even OEM links differ - and links from early tracks don't fit later serial #s. Ended up mine were Bercos -and I bought two new links from an undercarriage shop -and had to grind them down to match the rest. Pads I got from the salvage yard.

I've not got a few piles here of old AC, IH, and Cletrac tracks just for parts. No Deere though, except for one complete pair for my 1010.
