"new' 420 crawler loader with winch
I've been searching around northern Michigan for a small crawler for over a year now. I live 1000 miles away but have a small farm up there. I have many crawlers here at home, but would not try to truck anything that far.
Just found this Deere and bought it - seems it was a very good deal. I still have not actually seen it but am going there next week. Luckily my wife's parents live in the area. I saw it adverstised in the local newspaper and had my father-in-law go over, run it a bit , check it over, etc. Also had him get some cash and pay for it - and I put a check in the mail to him.
It was advertised as "Deere 420 dozer $3500". Ends up it's not a dozer - it's a crawler-loader with a winch. It has new bottom rollers, new steering clutches and brakes, new pins and bushings PLUS and extra pair of tracks. All the tracks have the high dozer grouser pads. It's also been changed over to 12 volts via a Delco 10SI alternator. The guy also included a OEM Deere parts and tech manual. Bought it all for $2500 - plus an extra $40 for trucking to my in-laws house.
I don't usually like buying anything without checking it out myself - but this seemed to good to pass up. It runs perfect, no smoke, runs smooth, and steers well. Winch was a big bonus since the seller didn't even mention the crawler had it.
