1960 440IC with blade PRICE DROP!!!Must sell!

Post by Crawler440 » Sun Sep 21, 2008 2:47 pm

Thinking about selling/trading?This machine was a ONE owner tractor until 2yrs. ago.A builder owned it and used it to clear lots and backfill foundations,It runs like NEW!and has the 4spd. trans.Sheet metal is VERY nice.New battery and rebuilt generator.New steering clutches on both sides and the finals were gone through.Blade and arms are exellent.NO CRACKS or WELDS EVER on the undercarriage.Needs-seat and chains to be re-bushed.I got 2 quotes-one from a guy in CT for $1K,and Crawler Heaven in NY for $1,200-.These are for parts and labor. This is a NICE,CLEAN machine. Not some beat up wreck, even the headlights work!Price is $4,500-b.o trade for???Tractors,cars,trucks...My # is 413-218-1901.Located in CT 06093

Even though it doesn't really make a whole lot of difference what year it is, if it is a 1960 it should have a 5 speed in it.

It's a "60.It has the original serial tag and was bought new in "60.It's a 4 speed and has the throttle on the left also.I heard the last ones made had it on the right.5 speeds were optional.I have the books that came with it stating so.Thanks

4 speed was standard, 5 speed was an option. The very, very last of the 440's had a throttle in the center of the dash that went forward and backwards, not rotational, most guys will refer to the as "center throttle" 440's.

Lavoy,
Were the trans. cases on the 4 speed and the 5 speed the same or was the 5 speed the only one with the dipstick to the front and left of the case and also the rectangular plate under the seat?

Chuck

I have a center throttle ICD repowered with a 420 engine, everything works but it has had a hard 48 years!

Once the diesels came out, all of the 440's got the big tranny with the plate and the dipstick whether 4 or 5 speed. I believe the cases are the same between 4 and 5 speed within a serial number range, just different internals.
