axle movement

Post by Eric.MacLeod » Sat Dec 27, 2008 8:56 pm

sorry for so many questions! when i pulled the sprocket off my 420 dozer i found out that the axle can be moved in and out freely, it is not alot but when i move it in the axle can be lifted a little, when i pull it out it thightens up, is the bearings worn or do i need to shim it up a little? thank you.. Pull the inner axle cover and make sure the retainer is still tight. If that is OK, you may be able to shim the bearings in to remove the play.
