The distributor is driven by the oil pump, and can only be installed in one position. Only way to change dist position is to change oil pump position.

this is the way mine ended up on TDC compression stroke and I put it back together and it runs great. I don't know how because the spark is even farther away from #1 cylinder. Even in -10f all day long.
