Inserts For Steering Clutch: 440ICD

I just priced inserts at JD, part #M885T page 80-4 of parts book, is there another source for these besides JD? Has anyone here ever fabricated their own?

Craig,
Send Lavoy an e-mail for the inserts. If he doesn't have an aftermarket source for them I don't know anyone else who would.

They usually have to be pretty trashed to need replacing. I have some used ones on hand need be. Normally, if there is some wear, you can turn them a quarter turn and get a new surface.

There are a few small chips out of the top rim of some of the inserts. I thought I might sand these smooth. I'll post a pic so you see what you think.

Here's a picture of the worst ones.

Top one is chewed up around the whole rim. What do you think?

Really, the balls should not be getting up that high if the clutch is adjusted correctly, so should not be an issue.
