The last time I posted about my late model 1010 dozer (diesel) I got it running by removing the "J" hook from the pump fuel return fitting. It was causing too much back pressure on the pump. I soon learned the fuel tank needed to be cleaned. Not rusty at all but lots of solidified gunk. The next problem was the oil pressure. I installed a different gauge and seeing between 8-18 PSI from idle to full throttle. Is it worth pulling the oil pan and remove the pump hoping the problem is a worn or plugged sump?
I assume I will need to rebuild or find a good engine. I did find a rebuilt engine, new std sleeve deck, std crank, rebuilt head, pump, injectors, the works, etc. however, its an early engine. It has about 500 hours since rebuilt and has been sitting for 2 years now. It is priced MUCH cheaper then I can rebuild my own. The owner said he has worked on a few of these engines and has found the block webbing between the sleeve o-rings to be cracked. He as found this on both 1010 and 2010 engines. This engine had this problem and was repaired by a machine shop.
Is cracked webbing a common problem with these engines? I did a few searches and can't find any discussion of it. Could this have been resolved in the later blocks?

Yes, very common in all the 1010/2010 diesels and some gassers. But, the cracking only travelled to a certain point and didn't seem to cause any big failures. I saw some get brazed, some welded, and some jus left as-is. None blew apart that I knew of.Jason Z in MO wrote:
