hey digitup! regarding prior 555a/trans gauge comment

Post by kc163 » Wed Jun 10, 2009 12:07 am

Hi
Got my machine - put some pics in the photo section - hope you have time to look

Question regarding your prior post to me regarding the transmission pressure gauge...I have one on this machine. It is barely and I mean barely in the green. The prior owner says that;s where it always runs. It really doesn't seem to move when running. I only ran it a couple of hours. Machine seems great but I'm not running it until I get some info on that really low trans pressure. Any suggestions? I've called a mechanic regarding some regular maintenance work but I would like to know what needs checked regarding this.
oh and it's at about 5000 hours on the machine if that makes a difference.
thanks!!

My main in shop mechanic has a precision gauge for that test but don't get too worried about the pressure and observe when warm and working it should still be in the green .Others on here should be able to tell you the pressure the transmission should be at .I no longer have the technical manual for my old 550A Dozer .All I got left for the old 550s is a parts manual for a 550 .don't be afraid of the crawler being in the condition that it is in run it and watch the gauge and work it a little .Digitup .

I have a copy of the 555a manual if you need some information, just let me know. I can email it to you.

Look up transmission oil pressure I know that it has to be more than 125-150 lbs pressure What is your serial number that is a 555 in the photo you show not a 555A .One model older but just as good a crawler . .Digitup.

You do realize you are dealing with a 555 not a 555A .It is just a wee bit older model of crawler in the photo .Digitup.
