Missing data plate

Post by gli77 » Sat Jan 02, 2010 2:09 pm

Looking for some opinions on if you would buy a crawler with a missing data plate? How much of a concern is this for collectors?

From a collectors point of view, I would not if I was planning on keeping it for my collection. If I was using it for parts for my other collectable machines - OK.

The one I am looking at the data plate is not where it is written it should be in the FAQ portion of this site. Anyone have any suggestions on other possible locations for the data plate on a 420C? The machine is covered by snow so it was difficult so search all areas.

There are only two possibilities, LH side of center section, LH side of bellhousing.
To buy or not to buy depends on what you want to do with it. I personally would not buy one without that tag other probably than for a parts crawler. If you want to use the crawler, could care less about the tag, and have no intentions of selling it later, go ahead, but I would pay less than I would for one with a tag.

What is a fair price for a 420C without the tag, not currently running, but running recently. Decent in, no missing parts(except tag) and a loader?
