1010 transmission/clutch

Post by killzoneq2 » Sun May 23, 2010 8:39 am

Are the transmissions/clutch on these hydraulic? I noticed the other day when i put it in gear it took a few seconds for the tracks to move. I checked the trans fluid and it was at the bottom of the sitck.. Basicly empty. I can only run this for about a minute as I am still waiting on a radiator.

The transmission is standard, but if you have a reverser crawler, there is no clutch. The clutch pedal actuates a valve that split the clutch packs in the reverser.

So if it is slow getting the tracks going my reverser fluid may be low? the reverser cable is froze up, I was using the shifter on the dash trying out each gear.

It is possible, also may be plugged filter, bad oil etc. If the cable is stuck, it may not be all the way in the correct position. Check and correct any or all of the above, reverser repair is not cheap.

I read through my manual today and am slowly understanding the way it all works. The Trans fluid I checked is actually the reverser fluid and it is barely touching the bottom of the stick. The reverser is also stuck in the middle of forward and reverse. As soon as I get the cable off and position it in forward and 3 gallons of fluid I will check it again. Thanks for the input!! I try do a search before I ask a question incase it was asked before.

As long as the reverser is that low, drain it and put in a new filter, no way to replace the filter without draining the whole unit.
The cable is current from Deere last I knew, I would not run it with a bad cable, too much spendy stuff to wreck.
