My new to me 1963 2010 (((((Diesel))))) crawler was smoking, so I tore it down, do to low compression. The liner plate is worn out!!!! Bad Enough. The dumb thing only has a bore of 3.625-----Gas block!!!!!!!! Is this why I dont have compression? Diesel head and all external diesel parts. why??
Thanks

I can't find my 1010 service manual, but if memory serves, 1010 diesel and 2010 gas are same bore. If you have the pan off, I think diesel is 5 main bearings, gas is 3. My bet is someone put a 1010 engine in a 2010, check block part number.

P/n t16162t is on the left side of the block. It has 5 main bearings. Did they offer a 3.625 bore diesel in a 1010? Were all the other engine components the same?
Thanks Mark

I can't find that block number, but with that bore and 5 main bearings, that is in all likelyhood a 1010 engine.

I dont have my book in front of me so I cant tell you the bore of a 1010, but I spent quite a bit of time researching 2010/1010 part numbers. What I found is the only difference between the 1010/2010 diesel engine is the block, liner assembly and pistons.

According to the parts book, T16162 is a casting # for a 2010 diesel block..Tractor S/N 012516 and above.

Now that is really interesting. I am looking at PC728, which shows only one block period, regardless of serial number. Is your parts book a wheel tractor parts book, or crawler?

It's an Ag wheel tractor parts book.....I looked at a PC731--2010 Industrial Wheel tractor-- and it's just like your PC728..that casting # doesn't come up at all.
Interesting is right......
