starter motor problem on a 1010
I need some advice on this problem. about 2 years ago I changed starters because the front half od the starter pinion gear was ground smooth. Well I put in a new starter and over this weekend I had to remove the starter because of another problem and I discovered that again the pinion is begining to have tooth damage. the dozer is started maybe once ever 2 months and since Oct it was in for service while I change a trany, clutches and brake bands. I can't see a mechanical problem ie flywheel or starter. Could it possibly be a bad ignition switch that arcs between on and start? Does my logic seem reasonable?
