I have a '63/'64 2010 crawler. It runs great but I have a problem with the hydraulics occasionally. There is a small rod that enters the left side of the crawler below and in front of the floor board and there is a spring on the end of the rod. The rest of the linkage is missing. It will slide out part way and when it does the hydraulics will not work. I was told this could be a mechanism to disengage the hydraulic pump in cold weather so the starter only had to turn over the engine. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Is it under your left foot?
If so this is a clutch to disengage everything behind the engine so you can start the engine without cranking the transmission and pump.
On mine this rod pulls straight up and has a cross bar that you can engage on the floorboard to hold the clutch in released position.
After the engine is running I lower it down to engage the transmission and pump etc.

The lever does connect mechanically to the normal clutch throw-out bearing between the engine and tranny. If the linkage is missing, then the clutch should be engaged all the time. This will not harm the operation. It is handy to pull up and latch (disengage) during colder weather when things are stiff.
There is a tranny oil pressure gauge in the dash panel. If it works and is registering LOW, check your tranny fluid level. There is also a tranny hyd filter under the right side just ahead of the back sprocket. It might need replaced.

JD 2010 Crawler with Loader
I have no problem with the clutch. I can shift gears with no trouble. I just cannot raise the dozer's blade. All other times this happened, I was able to push the rod in, turn it and I could feel it slip into place. When this happened the hydraulics would raise and lower the blade. I can't seem to find that position again.
I have a loader on my dozer. I am not sure how your blade is plumbed.
I have an external hyd pump connected on the rear where a PTO would fit. There is a small lever hand clutch that needs to be engaged to spin the hyd pump. Look to see if you have a simlar external pump on your PTO and see if it is enganged too. I have seen the fork fingers wore to the point that the small clutch is inbetween stages.

As others have said, this lever disconnects the engine from the transmission for cold (or even warm) weather starting. At least on the loaders, the loader hydraulics are driven by a Cessna pump from the PTO. Because the PTO is driven through the transmission, disconnecting the transmission with that lever also disconnects the PTO and thus the pump. You will want to get that repaired if the remaining lever linkage is hanging up and cuasing inadvertent disconnects.F4Blue wrote: It will slide out part way and when it does the hydraulics will not work. The transmission hydraulics are totally seperate from loader hydraulics with a seperate reservoir. I haven't looked at the dozers close enough but should also be seperate. I think that was wise since I have blown hydraulic lines for the loader but was still able to drive to a suitable location for repair.

According to the 2010 crawler operators manual, there is two different disconnect levers. There is one for the HLR tranny that disconnects everything, and there is one for the constant mesh tranny that disconnects just the hydraulic pump. In the pic the CMT disconnect lever comes up right below the clutch pedal, the HLR disconnect is near the back of the floor pan.
Most likely yours has the belly hydraulic pump. All of the crawlers equipped with dozers that I have seen have had the belly pump.
