If you have summer pads on, the snow can build up and freeze under the pad. Then the sprockets can ride up and slip. We have winter pads on with holes in the middle so the sprocket just pushes the snow out through the snow. These old tractors can last forever on only snow.

Snow is hard on undercarriage, and will accelerate the wear compared to most soils.
