Rubber Tracks on 420

Post by kc135cruechief » Mon Dec 20, 2010 5:50 am

It looks like it's been over a year since EJB17 posted his rubber track conversion on a 420. I was wondering if anyone ese has done the same since then and had similiar success? Also, any update to the long term wear and durability of the rubber tracks or how well they perform in the snow?

I'm thinking about the conversion as well, but was hoping to get some more reviews from those that have already done it. Does anyone have a good source for getting used tracks (rubber) in decent condition.

Thanks...kc

I too am slightly onterested. Yet would be more interested in something that allows me to change the grousers only and not the full chain/undercarriage. Be nice to be able to partake in parades.

I'd like to see someone come up with a heavy rubber strip that can be wrapped around the track and pinned like you'd put chains on rubber tires. Then you can drive somewhere without causing all kinds of grief, and remove them when ready to work.

Hi,

There were the rubber pad toppers that bolted on using those small holes you see in each pad. I have a couple on the parts shelf back at the farm, but have not seen a set on a machine since the late 1960's. They wore down pretty quickly....
