2010 hydraulics, loader bucket,,slowly drifts down

bucket drifts down,,, really should be fixed,,, if u push the bucket down completely and lift dozer off ground,,, doesn't seem like that drifts back up. trying to figure out if the problems in the cyclinders or in the valve. previously had ,, think it was a piece of junk,, or (maybe it was a piece of plastic) in the valve that cause the overload protection to go off prematurely. got that fixed,.. also remember hyd. oil,,, looked terrible in their,,, have to look at that again,,, want to get this machine ready.

My loader boom drifts down slowly if the machine is shut off- I'm sure some of the packing is leaking internally. Right now it isn't bad enough to replace.

I would first check the hydraulic fluid in the reservoir- if you have water in it it will cause at lot of problems with lifting and lowering the boom arms. You should be able to remove the four bolts holding the filter housing (u-handle plate) and remove the filter- there are two elements (metal screen mesh element) in the assembly along with the spring and a bolt. Sometimes the oil will look good because it floats on the water, especially if machine has not be run- it will be mixed though if just operated. If you see water, I would drain and refill (and change out one or both of the elements if needed- however they are pricey). The filter housing has a gasket which will probably be ruined once you remove- they are available at Deere for minimal cost.
