I am not shure what you mean by too tight are the 5 rollers not to be like that i know i have seen some that look like they are too loose and the tracks have too much play in them.Johngus wrote:Yes, and look at how much adjustment remains!!! Hello,
The John Deere service manual calls for 7/8" to 1 1/8" sag
on the 5 roller.This measurement is taken by laying a straightedge
on top of the track and measuring to the top of the grouser midway
between the return roller and the drive sprocket.Tracks that are to tight
are hard on the finals and increase track wear.Tracks to loose aren't
good either.Luck JimAnderson

also another queistion about the shifters in the 420 crawler i guess this would also be for the 320,330,420,430 seris tractor not just the crawlers i have seen two types of gear shifters on these series/crawler tractors one that is bent like 40 series/crawler and another that has shorter shifter leaver with the shift patern on the top of the nob with the same set up as most of the letter seires had was this an option with this or did they change over at some point.John
