That had to be a "late" 420 C to have an alternator.

I am assuming it was high output due to the double pulley!

If you run a generator bracket on a two wire double belt pulley alternator, will it make the ammeter needle spin?

Well the belt adjuster bracket sure looks like a 420. The home made mounting brackets look close to what I built as well. Sure not factory but for someone who is wanting to do the conversion most of the work is done for them here. Not my auction. I mounted a single wire delco on my 420. I'll get some pictures posted.

For a common tractor that I was just going to use, I may consider an alternator.
But for any of the classics, an alternator is like a booger on your face. It kills the value and they are ugly.
Generators are easy to work on and rebuild, parts are available, and they put out enough power if you run the engine at rated speed.

Nice! I needed a good laugh. This one will be a snow pusher in the winter. I get home after dark and go to work before sun up so it will get 6-8 lights installed to ensure visibilty. I do completely agree with the classics and keeping them original!

If you want to get by with a few less lights, I have 12 volt HID lights available now. 2 or 3 should be all you need, and they pull less than 4 amps each.

For the most part, they look like regular sealed beam lights, just a little longer. They are in housings, ready to go, in the $125 range, I do not have any on hand to send you a pic.
