stuck piston

Post by pop pop » Sun Sep 25, 2011 4:29 pm

i too just pulled apart a stuck piston on a 2-53, the piston was about 1/2" from top so i just pulled head, pan and soaked the cyl. with a concoction for 2 days, then ended up pushing sleeve out with piston still froze so i unbolted the rodcap and slid it all out,,, seemed to help cause it was easier to handle and could keep the patherpiss all over it for a few days while sitting in the sun,,(superb arizona solar factor there) and it started to move with just light tapping on the piston(wood block) & forced the piston out the bottom of the sleeve over the course of a few days of thermal cycling and pantherpiss,,, the rings were all good(lucky),,used some fine steel wool on the piston sides, honed the sleeve until crude was out,, i think i might put it together like that.

Why not just put new pistons and liners?
You are going to need new top and bottom liner seals, all of the o-rings and head gasket, etc.
You could upgrade to the "N" pistons and never have to mess with for many hours.
