That poor old girl has definitely seen some better days. If you want to keep this machine, as jtrichard suggests ,it might pay to get a parts machine. That is assuming you can find one with a decent undercarriage. According to JD parts, to get a set of chains with pads will be over $4000, then you need 10 rollers at $210 each. You would still need new track frames, which you would have to go to a salvage yard or get a "donor" machine. Then you have all the incidentals, track adjusters, recoils, figuring out what has happened to the crossbar. Thats not even getting into the rest of the machine! I don't mean to discourage you, I HATE to see these little buggers go to the grave but,you get the point, it doesnt take long for stuff to add up!

It could have fallen off a trailer, loading ramp or who knows. They can also bend from a cowboy going up over obstacles and slamming back down, especially with a loader.

My opinion might be a little different than the rest, but I don't know what your plans are for the crawler.
The way I look at it, for that price you got a free crawler. If you want to keep it long term, and are willing to do the work, no problem. Yes, the undercarragie is shot, for somewhere in the neighborhood of $5000-$6000, you can put all new rails, pads, rollers, and sprockets on it. For most people, that removes undercarriage as an issue for the rest of your lifetime. Yes, the bent trackframe sucks, but for the most part, anything bent can be bent back. Not sure what causes it, but I have straightened several on two cylinder crawlers, but more on loaders.
Extreme worst case scenario, what if you put $10,000 in it, and use it for the next 10 years, 20, ???? The work you can do with that setup will be worth more than that by a large margin, and if owning a machine and doing it yourself is worth anything to you, so much the better.
If, however, you have no interest in long term, then I agree, look for a parts machine with a good undercarraige and just tune it up good enough to work.
Either way, you really can't lose.

The other track frame is perfectly strait. I have a few jobs to do on the farm with it and then probably will sell it. The rollers seem to all work ok. The machine just needs the track lever adjusted on the left side to function 100%.

Thanks for all the help!!!!

So what do you think I could get out of it the way it is with the track lever fixed? That way I have something to go off of it when I list it for sale.
