Early to late 1010 casting numbers?
I want to purchase a manual set for the 1010 but my s/n tag is missing. Are there any numbered cast pieces that are different on early one than later ones that could help me narrow it down to which one I have? Is there major differences on early to late crawlers? Thanks for any help that can be offered.

The parts manual will cover all you need whatever the serial number is, Diesel or gasoline engine. In the book they will specify the right part number for a given range of serial numbers. You can download it for free as a pdf file at : www.jdparts.com . PC0727 is the number. Free registration required.
The number one tool to have (The service manual) is availaible at the john deere bookstore website:

I'm shure you'll have to retype 1010 in the keyword field and look for the manual SM2034.
There is a number for crawlers and another for the loader attachement. Availaible as book, cd, downloadable pdf.
I Hope that helps.

The first thind I purchased after dozer my 1010C was a complete set of paper Manuals,-Parts,service & operators manuals. ordered them straight from John Deere in th U.S for just over $200 delivered to Canada worth every penny. went with paper due to easier to carry around than a laptop, plus laptops, heavy tools, penetrant fluids, etc. not a good mix for me,as the laptop is my daughters it was worth the extra $$ for paper manual than replacing Laptops,Ha. I consider them one of the most valuable purchases yet. But not as valuable as this site/forum with all the years of knowledge/experience.
