undercarriage interchange mc,40,420,430,440

Post by mc_mike » Sun Aug 27, 2006 6:35 pm

Does the undercarriage from 40c through 440c interchange?

I was told the mc is completely different? I was also told that certain 40 crawlers have a different offset sprocket, but the track and rollers would interchange with the 420, 430, 440?

What is the difference between undercarrige on the 1010 & 2010 comparied with the older 2 cylinders?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am trying to understand what would interchange and what won't.

Thanks for any and all help.

Generaly speaking starting with the 40C, serial 62264, many of the parts do interchange. There are some that do not. As Dave mentioned the sprockets for a 40 are a different pitch that the 420/430/440 as is the chain. Some of the front idlers are different if it's a 4 roller. There was a standard and deep dish sprocket for all the crawlers, not just the 40 but it had no bearing on the chain as the pitch was the same.

The MC and early 40C are very different but the sprocket is the same as the later 40C.

It just depends on what specific part it is to say yes or no.

Chains and pads:
BO Lindeman, MC and 40 all use the same chain, BO and MC had the same pads. 40 uses same pads as 420, 430, and 440. MC and 40 both use the same two sprockets depending on tread width desired. BO, MC, and early 40 all use 29 link chains.
420, 430, and 440 all use the same chain, pads and sprockets. Chains could be 31, 32, or 35 link for late 40-430, 440 and 1010 are 36.
1010 and 2010 under 42,000 use the same chain and pads, 1010 uses the same sprockets as late 440, and 420/430 if they have the narrow treadwidth sprocket installed.
All of the Deere crawlers up through 350 use the same pitch chain, but the pin and bushing diameter is different.
420-440, 1010, and 2010 under 42,000 use the same pin and bushing diameter, 1010 and 2010 are 4 bolt, 420-440 are 2 bolt, but the 4 bolt rails will work on 420-440.
2010 after 42,000 and 350 are the same rails, but 2010 is 39 links, 350 is 36.
Rollers:
BO Lindeman, MC, and 40 under 62,263 all use the same bottom rollers. MC and Early 40 use the same front idler, and this idler can be used on BO Lindeman.
40 after 62,263, 420, 430, 440, and 1010 all use the same bottom roller, and upper idler if 5 roller. 2010 used a different style axle and seal in its rollers, but they will fit late 40-1010 as well.
40 after 63,263, 420, and 430 all use the same two front idlers depending on 4 or 5 roller, and which option the 4 roller had.
440 and 1010 use the same front idler.
