350c steering questions
350c steering questions
I have recently purchased a 350c crawler with some steering trouble. I downloaded the service manual (all 867 pages, holy hell) and have read through the adjustment procedures but have not tackled the job yet. From the2 minute test drive i took it seems that the right side is working correctly but the left side does not do anything untill the very end of the lever travel, then it is very minimal. I do not have a lot of heavy equipment experience but I am a master certified auto tech. I'm just looking for any advise before I go wasting time on a series o adjustments if that is not the trouble. Thanks!
Adjusting the clutches is not going to be a waste of time.
If you own a crawler you need to know how to do it and it takes very little time.
It will probably solve your steering problem AND give you some idea of the condition of your clutches and brakes.
There is no plugging in a computer on your new crawler, so from now on you will need to go back to basics as far as making decisions on what to do to keep that unit running.
Good to hear you got the manual, mine is worth it's weight in gold to me.
350c is a nice piece of equipment, hope you enjoy it.
What do you have a dozer or loader? attachments?

Brake adjustment
I would look at adjusting your brake band up first as I'm assuming it isn't steering (but driving properly). The auto adjusters don't always work. Pulling the lever back all the what activates the auto adjusters, same principal as drum brakes on a Chevy pickup.
You need to diagnose and let us know what it's doing and not doing so we can help you out.
