Post by ggfossen » Mon Aug 21, 2006 12:17 pm

Anybody know the weight of the engine on a 420? My so called manual doesn't tell me...

Gary,
I would guess with flywheel installed, 400-500 lbs.

Lavoy,

OK. A bit chunkier than I thought, but then everything on the machine seems to be. I will have to "alter" my rigging a bit, but I'll pick it up one way or another. It would be much easier had I been able to put it in the shop rather than build a cover over where it sets, but life ain't always fair.

Thanks,

Gary

Gary,
If you strip it down, no front casting, manifold, water pump, etc.,, I think you could lighten that up by over 150lbs.

Once again, a bit heavier than I thought. I will approach it accordingly. I had planned to use a come-along from the over head beams, but they may not be up to that. I will strengthen, and go slowly.

thanks

Gary
