440 wheeled reverser

will a 59 wheeled tractor reverser with a 2-53, fit I believe a 58 gas enginge crawler?

It might, depends on serial number if you are talking direct bolt in. The internals are the same.

As Lavoy said the internals are the same but the case may be different. M4256T “small” transmission case was used on earlier crawlers before 44800. T11396 “big” transmission was used for all diesels and later gas crawlers after 448001. The 1959 serial numbers were 444,128 thru 453,872.

The “big” transmission has a dip stick on top of transmission; has a cover plate on top of the transmission over the ring gear; and has larger diameter studs to mount to the direction reverser. See if your crawler has this big transmission.

Due to the larger mounting studs there is a different direction reverser case casting. Gil
