jd 350 blade control question
Hey guys,
Another quick question for you. The 6 way blade control has some wear. Is there a kit available to rebuild the control handle? Thanks.

6 way blade control
Went by the john deere parts department today, and they do make a kit that includes the whole control assembly with exception of the t- handle. I must say john deere is rather proud of those parts $$$$$$$$$$

I shouldn't even comment here but I can't resist! Obviously you haven't been by a Caterpillar dealer or a Fiat dealer or a New Holland Dealer or any other dealer that sells parts for their machines. I agree the price for this kit is outrageous but it isn't just a Deere issue. Parts are high no matter who you buy them from. I'm not defending Deeres reasoning for the price they have set for this kit. These are vintage machines and they are going to get a premium price for these OEM parts. Not because they should but because they can!
My suggestion is to look for select used or try to dig it out on the Internet. Grecian built the valve and the controls for these machines so you might try looking at them directly. I have rebuilt these linkages but with little success. There is nothing that will work like new parts! I know they are high but they would most likely last you a life time.

Quick Fix
I have seen too many of these wore out controls fixed with an angle grinder or cutting torch. You simply cut the hole bigger for the t-handle to go thru the hydraulic tank side box. Not a good fix and looks like crap. Probably other owners who got sticker shock on the price if the replacement parts.

I talked an older mechanic today about the problem of the control handle being worn alot. He said to take the control assembly apart, knock out the roll pins, drill them out a size bigger and put in a size bigger roll pins. Then change out the two bushings around top and bottom of t handle. Any of you guys ever tried this with any success? I really hate to see anything rigged up instead of just fixed right the first time, but $1200.00 is a tough pill to swallow, not to mention hard to come by these days.
