2010 injectors, 2 too big, or 2 too small?

Post by jb660r » Wed Oct 31, 2012 7:01 pm

I pulled the injectors from my 2010 to get to the bottom of an issue I had with smoke. The pintle on two of them are at least twice as big as the other two injectors. One of the two bigger ones has a number 20 on the side of the body while none of the others do. Estimating the size across the pin, two are about 1/16, and the other two are about 1/8,(just an estimate). My question is, which is correct? Starting at the radiator, #1&2 are the smaller injectors, and #3&4 are where the larger ones were. Maybe for some reason this is normal, but it seemed wrong to me. I want to replace them all this winter, but for now I can get by. Just looking for some input or answers.

Something is not right, I would take them to a good injection shop and have them checked out. Or, if they are the late style injectors, get rebuilt ones.

I will definatly do that. According to the info I got from the injection manual, they are Bosch, and from the s/n my machine its a '64 if that means they would be late style. I found some online for $155 each with a $100 core. Wont be able to get them for a while but it is at the top of the list. Any idea what the # 20 is or if there is a certain size I need to get?

$155 sounds a little high, I think mine are $125. If your cores are good, then don't worry about the core charge.
Not sure what the 20 would mean.

I checked them today. The pins on the smaller two are .030, and the bigger are .060.
Lavoy, if I sent you my four as cores, how much would I be giving you for new/rebuilt? Im sort of confused on exactly what part, be it the body where the pintle is, or the entire thing is the core.

As long as we are talking about the late style injectors, $125/each is the last price I had on the complete injector ready to bolt in and run.

Is there a picture of a late style injector you can point me to? I have pictures of mine I can email you. I don't know how to tell the difference,

Nothing that I have. If you have a parts catalog, give me the part number of yours, or send a pic.

That should be them. Shoot me an e-mail if you want me to check on availability, but worst case scenario, I will just send yours in for rebuild.
