440icd trans prob

Post by scampr » Wed Dec 12, 2012 5:36 pm

Hi newly registered but been viewing a while. I have a 440icd thats popping out of 2rd when not on much of a load.I am thinking about redoing the trans if i have to but wondering if anyone has any input on what i might be looking for (maybe something as simple as taking top off for shifting forks) The other thing i am curious about is it doesnt have a reverser but i would like to add one. i would think the trans is the same so what would be involved, and what prices would i might (lol) expect? thanks... this is my second 440icd and its so much more simple than the 450C i have. :D

Sometimes if they have been run long enough with a bad bearing, the gear will wear at a taper too, which will only make the problem worse.
If you want to add a reverser, while you are working on the trans is a good time to do it.
I have a complete reverser assembly if you decide to go that route.

what kind of money would the assembly get into, they sure make the crawler a lot nicer

It would depend on how much of the parts you need. Shoot me an e-mail with serial number, and we can figure out how much of it you will need. I don't have the reverser here, but can run out and get it easily.
