mc crawler engine racing

Post by Zed » Thu Jan 17, 2013 7:56 pm

My mc was idling and then a clackety clack developed. within 30 seconds the engine raced uncontrollably.Upon restarting the machine it again raced uncontrollably. The linkage b/n throttle and carburetor seems to function but has no effect on the problem of the engine racing. Any pointers?

pull the carb and see if the butterfly fell off of the shaft?...if the linkage is at idle and its running wild its getting fuel and air from some where..... if the linkage is not at idle then you have a governor problem

sounds to me like the noise was the carb butterfly being eaten or maybe just rattling around in the intake- time to pull the carb off for inspection ---
locktite the 2 screws into the shaft with BLUE locktite

mc crawler problem solved. screw in carb and butterfly jammed open. evidently one screw doesn't do it.
