440 is a wet clutch type reverser, engine clutch must be used when shifting.

So is the lever on the left side of the dash the reverser or something else? I didn't see any cooling lines or a cooler attached to the transmission.

Only one of the pictures is working for me, I'm not sure why but if you follow the link to the pictures they show right up. I've got rear view and both tracks uploaded to a subaru forum's hosting service.

I do not work at the junkyard, I just stop through every now and then to see what shows up.

The shift tower was unbolted from the transmission. I'm not sure why, but the gears inside looked fine?

No cooling lines, it is a wet reverser, not a hyd reverser, just runs in oil.
Yes, reverser lever is normally on the LH side.

All three of these links work for me even when I'm logged out of the forum, so they should work for you too.

i stopped by to look at it although i couldnt find anyone to talk to. it looks like with some work it could be fixed up to run again but it sure looks like a waste to see someone took the shifter top off and left it open for the elements .I would be interested to pick it up if the price was right, but they wont return my call.Same old story though big money for tracks, adjusters, and all the missing parts. but it has nice straight tin.
