Lavoy,
If you or anyone else runs across a good oil pan let me know please. Mine was rusted through, so I fabricated a new bottom but it's slightly shallower than the original.
I'd like to get an original so the dip stick reading is correct.

I wonder if the Deere application is the same pan as other applications? I know there are a lot of 2-53 parts avaialble from the marine engine guys.

Oil Pan
Bought a 440 in Wisconsin once kind of sight unseen. I drove up there in the winter to get it almost to Lake Superior. Loaded it and headed out terrible weather all the way home. I left it on the trailer for a month. Weather got nice and decided to change the oil. Reached under the pan and no oil plug, got a mirror and still no plug. I almost fainted, lol. I did a little looking and someone have torched a small hole just the right size for the oil plug about 4 inches from where it should be. I did some investigating and when they had rebuilt the engine they put the pan on a half turn off. I have learned a lot about what to look for since then, lol. Tom.

I would like to find a spare to see if I could braze in a fitting for an oil pan heater. I am going to put a 250 watt silicone pad heater on this one to try it for the fun of it.
