Frozen Pins Joy Ride #3
Here in Central Maine we have about 30" of snow on the ground. My track pins were close to rusted solid last fall so per the advise of this web site I went for 2 snow joy rides earlier this winter. First January 6th and second February 10th. Both times I noticed the tracks getting looser. Yesterday February 28th I thought that with all this snow I should go for a serious ride down the logging road near the house. I drove about 1 mile out and 1 mile back. The snow was good and wet and packed down solid. No plowing, just riding. I could see the tracks loosening up nicely. In the tracks in the snow I could see signs of wet rust. So I think the wet snow was getting to the pins and doing its job. Besides helping my crawler run better, I had fun !!!!!Then I went for an 85 mile snowmobile run to get coffee and donuts. I'm in no hurry for spring. What's that saying " Enjoy The Moment" !!!!!!

Snow or water is hands down the best and almost only way to loosen stuck or rusty links, not to mention it is fun.

I am ready for the ride in the snow on a melting day! Just need the weather to warm up a bit as it has not been above freezing long enough for the snow to get wet. This 450b is one ROUGH ride.
I have a much better set of pads that will make it onto this loader next summer. I also have a new set of dozer pads but, with all the things I've read hear, I will put the loader pads on.

Hey Frankdozer, check out the sign on the back of this 450b. I bought it from a woman who was selling the estate. I named the loader "Franks".

I guess it was his first and favourite piece of equipment. It had been well looked after, I can tell you that.
