starter removal

Post by graves2481 » Thu Mar 07, 2013 7:09 pm

This may be a dumb question, but I am a little stumped. The starter on my 1010 crawler has gone bad and I thought I could get to the bottom bolt by taking off the belly pan. There are 2 hydraulic lines in the way so I can't hardly see the starter. I didn't know if I take the fuel filters off maybe I can reach the bottom bolt. I want to be sure the starter will come by the engine block out the top before I take it loose and can't get it free. I would appreciate any input I can get.

Welcome aboard .....on my 2010 you have to remove fuel filters and the starter comes out the top and on 2010 there is a hole in the frame rail you go thought to get to the lower bolt i dont think there is a hole in the 1010 frame rail so you should be able (barely) to get to the bolt from the front under the starter

starter removal

I had to remove the fuel filters on my 1010c diesel to remove the starter out the top. I think there is a hole thru the frame to get to the one bolt. My starter hadn't gone bad, it was the post inside to the solenoid was corroded. gregjo1948

Not sure if the same on the 1010, but on my 2010 diesel loader you can unbolt the fuel filter bracket and move out of the way without opening the fuel system.
