Will the radiator from a 430 gas fit on a 440diesel with out too much modification. Does it require different cooling capacity for the Detroit 2-53?
While I am here. Will the starter from a 430 work on a 440ICD?
Thanks,
440ICD radiator

For the rad, When i compare the 2parts books, the rad# are different. Lower brackets same, upper different. The diesel 440 has a bit more power so the rad is probably different to take this increase.
I agree with whiteclipse, the starter of a 440 gas, even rewinded for 12v would rush to crank a high compression diesel engine. I don't know about ring gear match either.
I suggest that you download the part books at www.jdparts.com . It's free. Personnaly i have 440 gas but i like to have part books up to 2010. When I check for parts I can compare and look if it fits.

Rad is different, starter is different, not even close on either count. Only repair for rad is recore, no new available.
